Krutzen/McGhee Duo
Heidi Krutzen and Lorna McGhee are re-envisioning the traditional flute and harp duo. Exploring the full expressive capabilities of their instruments they are surprising audiences with a richness of sound, kaleidoscopic colours and dynamic range rarely heard from the flute and harp.
As a duo, they have given concerto performances in Canada and the United States, including a gala performance of Mozart's Flute and Harp concerto at the 2004 National Flute Association Convention. They have played at many of the premiere chamber music festivals in North America. Their performances have been broadcast on Netherlands Radio, CBC and NPR radio stations. Having already commissioned four new works, Heidi and Lorna are raising the profile of their instruments, presenting relevant and vital programs in concert and on disc.
Trio Verlaine
The members of Trio Verlaine are drawn together by friendship and a strong desire to further this unusual instrumental combination first dreamt of by Debussy.
Each player has distinguished themselves in their respective field -- together they draw on a wealth of experience and imagination. They have appeared together at many of North America’s finest chamber music festivals, including the Oregon Bach Festival, Music in the Vineyards and the Sitka Summer Music Festival. Trio Verlaine can be heard frequently on NPR in the States and CBC radio in Canada. In addition to standard repertoire, Trio Verlaine’s exploration includes arrangements of works suited to this rare combination, and the commissioning of entirely new works. Trio Verlaine recently had the honour of being granted a commission from Seattle Chamber Music Society. The new trio by American composer, Jeffrey Cotton, will be premiered at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival in 2008.
